About the Author
George B. Cunningham, Ph.D. (The Ohio State University), is a professor in the Division of Sport Management at Texas A&M University. He also serves as the director for the Laboratory for Diversity in Sport, which is dedicated to producing and disseminating research related to all forms of diversity in the sport context.

Author of more than 120 articles and book chapters, Cunningham focuses his research in the areas of diversity, group processes, and employee attitudes. Within the diversity domain, he investigates the underrepresentation of various groups in leadership positions, the impact of dissimilarity on subsequent outcomes and behaviors, and strategies for capitalizing on the positive effects of diversity. His research has been published in various journals, including those in the sport domain (e.g., Journal of Sport Management, Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology, and Sociology of Sport Journal) and the area of social psychology (e.g., The Journal of Social Psychology, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, Sex Roles, and Group Dynamics), as well as in various management journals (e.g., Organizational Analysis, Journal of Business and Psychology), among others. Cunningham is a Research Fellow of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM); he served as president of NASSM during the 2009 2010 academic year.

His free time is spent with his family, swimming, or playing golf.

Great book. Although the subject of Diversity can be challenging to read if you do not have a vested interest, I found the author did a good job incorporating sport into the topic to make it both relevant and interesting.

Star WarsTrilogy-Ultimate Guide to the Incredible Locations od Episodes IV,V, and VI.

I mistakenly thought that this book was also going to describe some of the actual outdoor movie set locations of where various exterior scenes were filmed, but it is actually a well-presented and detailed description of all of the various ficticious locations in Star Wars episodes IV,V,& VI from the fantasy point of view.

The exterior views and also the cut-a-way illustrations, maps of planets,and their detailed descriptions of Star Wars space technology are amazing in detail and descriptive content.

It is a pleasurable study of the Stars Wars Planets,Cities,and buildings and other space-related ships and other story-related structures for those who love the technical points of things like I do. Someone went to alot of trouble to produce this very definitive work, and I appreciate that kind of technical diligence as seen in this most enjoyable book.

Enjoyable but DK need better proof readers

I have enjoyed reading the DK series of books on Star Wars worlds and vehicles and once again they do not disappoint with an amazing level of detail. One really does appreciate the time and patience the artists and writers put into each illustration. Each illustration often contains additional material explaining events that happened off camera (i.e. as characters travel from place A to place C, something occured at place B). Some events I recognised from the original screenplay and deleted sequences(such as the Tosche station / Biggs sequence). Not being a hard core Star Wars fan, I have no idea where the others can from, beyond their being ideas that were tossed around during pre-production.

The copy I have was let down by some unprofessional publication flaws, notably incomplete sentences that trailed off into nothing (this occured about three times).

I am not an expert on Star Wars but there were one or two things that caused me to wonder, particularly the reference to C-3PO and Anakin's lightsaber on Tatooine which I thought may have contradicted something I read on the Star Wars site about droid memory erasure.

The book also vaguely fleshes out a few interesting "links" in the twenty or so year gap between the events of the current triology and the original triology of films, notably with reference to Yoda.

Recommended for fans of the Star Wars films (five stars if DK fix the typos).

A Documentary Delight!

This is the third book in the "Inside the World's of Star Wars" series. All of them are absolutely incredible! They take you on an in depth tour of the locations in the "Star Wars" galaxy. If you have ever looked into the background while watching the "Star Wars" movies, and wondered about the complex environments depicted by George Lucas, this book is for you. It gives complex detail about every aspect, of every location, of every scene from the movies. It show's you all of the location's on Tatooine, the Yavin base, the Death Stars, Eco Base, Yoda's hut, the Ewok village, and much, much more. Anyone curious about the colorfull worlds of the "Star Wars Trilogy" should purchse this book. For much more information on the variety of characters from "Star Wars," the "Visual Dictionary" series is also a must have, and to go in depth with the ships and technology, "Star Wars, the Incredible Cross-Sections" is another great series from DK.

A fun and thorough guide!

Having finished this little gem of a book, I wanted to hop on the next plane to Phnom Penh! It was light-hearted and upbeat but thoroughly comprehensive, covering everything from history to festivals to safety tips to every imaginable social situation. The organization of information was logical and systematic, which made it easy to take it all in. The illustrations were fun too. The message I took from the book was that if you understand the people and the culture, you'll have a wonderful experience in Cambodia!

Funny, good tips, totally worth reading!

I am prepping for a two week trip through Cambodia and reading literally any and everything I can find about the culture, people, experiences etc. I really enjoyed Dos & Don'ts In Cambodia. I read it start to finish on two domestic flights recently and had check myself - laughing aloud on a crowded plane can draw some stares. There is some valuable information for sure in this book about daily stuff - traffic, choosing a place to eat, Khmer social taboos and the like. Very glad I got this and I will keep it on my Kindle to refer to during my travels.

For those who enjoy reading endlessly about Rape.

This book... I can't even. There were so many times I just wanted to quit, but I had this crazy little idea in my head that it would get better. I'll not be making that mistake again.

The most important thing you should know about this little gem is that I don't think I've ever read a story where rape is mentioned more, or a character is nearly raped in such excess. Seriously, it made me throw s***. I'll break this down for you, seeing as I marked almost every occurrence. You may also need to get a friend because you will surely run out of fingers and toes if you're counting along at home!

Christina is kidnapped for leverage against her family by Michael, a mercenary for a secret organization of fellow mercenaries called the IMA. He has her for about a month or two and threatens to rape or considers raping her no less than 5 times.

Then in a game of politics, another rival mercenary steals her away from Michael and threatens to rape her about 3 or 4 times.

Michael comes to get her back because, gosh!, he maybe has feelings for her, and they both get held captive. He then intimidates her into thinking he might possibly rape her 2 more times to get her to follow his plans to keep them alive. While both are captive, aforementioned rival mercenary threatens her with rape twice as well, but see, the difference is he means it!

Up to this point, poor Christina has been appalled or terrified with these rape threats/attempts. However, upon their escape from a prison island, she strikes a deal with Michael that if he helps save her parents from the same prison, she will give him what he wants... her body. They free her parents and escape on a boat.

Whilst traveling the coast by said boat, Michael decides it's time for her to settle the deal, but Christina is appalled and refuses. That night, he gets in her bed, and although she doesn't want to because she is all confused about her feelings for Michael, she doesn't say no, and let's him take her virginity. She does cry during the whole thing and call him a monster afterwards, though.

They get to his apartment in Seattle, and there is a lot of do I/don't I have feelings for him/her, as well as a few more shady scenarios of him almost forcing himself on her because he just can't resist her. But see, he LOVES HER now. (At this point I'm banging my head against a wall repeatedly)

But, surprise! The rival mercenary has taken over the IMA and takes Christina, making Michael come get his one true love. While waiting for Micheal to arrive, rival mercenary threatens to rape her a handful of times, and cuts her clothes/her and is on top of her bleeding body when Michael arrives. Oh the horror Micheal feels not knowing if the rival mercenary raped his Christina!!!

Rival mercenary lets them both go under the condition that Michael works for him now. Michael cleans her wounds and then leaves in the morning. The one person he trusts in the whole world shows up to give Christina Micheal's goodbye letter (two sentences) and takes her to find her parents. Christina maybe-possibly loves Micheal back now. THE END!

worth the price and then some

Ok I sat on this review for a few days because I have a tendency to look back a few days later and think gosh that book wasn't as great as I thought or on rare occasions better than I originally thought. Cloak and Dagger is turning out to be one of those rare occasions where I'm like "man I really loved that book" though I think I got my star rating correct first go. I just finished another book that I didn't particularly like and all I could think was gosh I miss Michael, maybe not the sanest feeling, but I mean seriously come on he's so freaking hott he could kidnap me any day. I hate sappy books so it was refreshing to read this after reading so many other bad books. I love that the author doesn't try to portray him as anything other than himself and that she didn't cut his (well you know) off and give them to Christina. Speaking of Christina, I did find her a bit annoying towards the end I mean come on you know you're in love with the guy just like we do so get over yourself but hey I still enjoyed her as a character. Overall good job Ms. Campbell on giving me the breath of fresh air I so desperately needed

Definitely NOT for everyone

C&D is a romantic thriller that is definitely NOT for everyone. If you like traditional sweet romances or heroes that deep down are basically good, moral, decent upstanding men...then look elsewhere. If however you enjoy dark, morally ambiguous heroes who have done some genuinely bad things but have enough of a soul or shred of conscience left that they are capable of redemption...then you just hit the Mother lode.

These are the type of stories that I enjoy the most and it is very hard to find the "real thing". In my quest I have been the victim of many a "bait and switch" scam where the hero turns out to have been wrongfully imprisoned, or actually NOT guilty of the bad reputation or working for some sort of government sanctioned agency for the good of national security which actually makes him the GOOD guy.

Not C&D. This is the real deal...FINALLY!!! The hero Michael, was recruited as a teenager from a gang and works for the IMA, which is described as "a group of mercenaries trained like soldiers with the moral code of assassins". Michael tortures people for information and then kills them and comes back covered in blood that isn't his own and the author shows this. The author also shows us that he has a shred of conscience left by contrasting his methods to those of his counterpart. Michael prefers to use "scare tactics and mild physical assault" he notes he tends to get "better results with the threat of torture rather than the actual act itself". Unlike his comrade Callaghan who has elevated torture and rape to an art form that brings him supreme satisfaction sexual and otherwise and leaves his captives so broken that they will tell him anything he wants to hear just to get him to stop.

C&D is the story of the beginning of Michael's redemption when he falls in love with his hostage and for the first time in his life experiences the desire to put someone else's life above his own. As a love story it is very realistically done, which means it is extremely slow to develop and by the end of the book Christina isn't at all sure about what she feels for him other than to know that she doesn't entirely still hate him. She has seen his vulnerability, she has seen the shred of conscience inside him spark, she is beginning to believe that he really does love her and she is beginning to have feelings for him - which are so hard for her to reconcile given that he has so many times done such very bad things, and given that some of those very bad things have been done to her.

I thought C&D was a thoroughly enjoyable story with very realistic relationship development. If there was not another installment I would have marked it down a star for cheating me of a HEA but I cannot wait to start Armed & Dangerous and I am over the moon to know that a 3rd installment is also promised. To the author...trilogies are overdone. You need to keep going!

An excellent introduction to spoken and written French

As I write this, I'm a little over halfway through this program, and I am very pleased with it. The four CDs for use with the book are very clear and useful in helping to pronounce French correctly. The book is an excellent text-all points of grammar are explained clearly and plenty of examples are given to illustrate how to use the language correctly. The dialogues are easy to learn and very practical-they contain things that the average person would actually talk about when visiting a French-speaking area; topics such as food, shopping, buying train tickets, sightseeing, and so forth. The book also contains an excellent and useful appendix, which recaps points of grammar and has a section on letter writing.

So why four stars instead of five? My main criticism concerns the "Learn as you Go" CDs. I do not find these terribly helpful. They contain extra phrases like "The chair is made of mahogany" that the average user is extremely unlikely to need, and that with no transcription whatever, so it's hard to say if you've repeated it correctly or not. I think the "Learn on the Go" CDs could have been put to much better use recording the many grammatical examples in the text. In their defense, they do go over the pronunciation of new verb conjugations as they are introduced, and that IS very helpful. The space on these four CDs could, however, in general have been much better used.

The book does have a few minor flaws. For instance, in one early dialogue the year 1960 is said, at a point when only the numbers up to 19 have been taught (and in French, 1960 is said as one thousand nine hundred sixty). There are a few other things that would confuse a complete newcomer to French, though if you've had any exposure to French before the book won't give you any trouble. Even if you are completely new to French, I would still recommend this product. If you make it through the first few units it will go very easily afterward if you stick with it. Also, though the course is self-contained, I would strongly recommend getting a dictionary and a verb guide to go with it. Then you will have all the tools you need to learn basic French independently.

This course's few flaws are far outweighed by its many good points. It is enjoyable to use and very informative. It demands effort, of course-like everything worth doing. I believe this is the best self-teaching course for French available, and I look forward to moving on to the Advanced set soon.

Great book so far. I'm using this as a reference alongside Duolingo to brush up on my French. It's a solid text book.

For serious learner

If you are a serious learner, this course is for you. I have used also Pimsleur and Fluenz. They are suitable for a tourist, but they won't really teach you the language. What is good about this course is that it covers grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary. Each lesson has plenty of excercises. I did also love the cultural note in each lesson. You should expect to spend a considerable amount of time on the course to get the most benefit. Accompanied Cds are very helpful tool especially the "Learn on the Go" Cds. Enjoy your learning.
